60's Buffet transformed to perfection!

Just another average Sunday morning  for LV Design, taking a drive around the Simcoe County in search of some projects and great finds for our clients. We came across this great piece; a 1960's dining room buffet. Picked it up for $40 and threw it in the back of the truck.

The client we picked it up for was struggling to find something small enough in width that still had enough storage for their media unit. They were also looking for something with a unique touch, soft in colour and hardy enough to withstand time. That is why this piece worked perfectly. All this solid wood piece needed was to be refinished in a different colour to work in the space. We did just that!

Step 1:

Here you see the piece before as we were priming it with Benjamin Moore wood primer $16.99 - That is Buddy Love, LV Design's little mascot. Can't get a project done without him.

Before with primer being applied.

Step 2:

After: Painted Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue HC-143, pearl finish
$ 22.99

There you have it a one of a kind media unit. Our client could not be happier.

Total cost $80....

DIY Bedroom - Night stands

One of our clients is looking for a well designed room on a very tight budget. We are suggesting a few DIY projects for them.

The plague of  finding the affordable night stand.
Our Solution:
RAST IKEA NIGHTSTAND!!!!
What you are going to need:
Rask Ikea Night stand $39.99
Knob - Home Depot $1.29
Stencil Tape - Michael's $6.99

Spray paint - Home Depot $5.69 per can (used 6 cans plus one primer)

Silver Metallic Paint - Michael`s $5.89
Must needed cocktails!

Once we have all our items purchased and our much needed cocktail is made we are ready to start creating.

Remember to be in a well ventilated area when spraying.

1. Open Rast box and layout all pieces individually
2. Lay your news paper down and start placing pieces out
3. Shake and spray. Spray about 10`inches away from wood and move your hands in an even movement up and down surface.
4. Wait 20 minutes and spray second coat. Do this approx. 3 times or until you get an even coat
5. Wait 1hr and flip sides and repeat shake and spray.
6. Once pieces are all dry lay the three front faces of drawers out and mark down with your stencil tape a desired design.
7. Once tape down start applying your metallic paint to pattern cut out and let dry. Do not remove the tape until the paint is completely dry.
8. Now the fun begins. Make sure you did not have too many cocktails at this point. We all know how fun putting together ikea furniture is. Assemble night stands, remove old knobs and replace them with new ones.

This is what we got..... Pretty in White! $149.00 for two nights stands...If you can`t beat them join them!

Our client is very happy and we are working with them on a few more bedroom DIY projects. Stayed tuned for more and the results of the entire bedroom.

Giving a little sparkle!

LV Design recently met with a new client who have a beautiful 3000 Sq ft home in one of Toronto's most desirable neighborhoods. Beautiful layout, beautiful home just needs a little sparkle!
